Cork played an unprecedented leading role in an artistic installation presented in Turbine Hall, the iconic space of the Tate Modern designed for large-scale projects that has revolutionised the perception of contemporary art.
The project, designed by the Danish collective SUPERFLEX, is entitled "One Two Three Swing!" and was developed for the 3rd edition of the Hyundai Commission.
Renowned for their works that convey a great sense of humour, the artists created a colossal "forest" of swings, installed on a cork-based floor, which ensured soft landings, while creating an extraordinary organic and sensorial environment.
About 5000 m2 of an innovative cork composite, specifically developed by Corticeira Amorim for the project, was applied inside Turbine Hall - where large-scale cork swings endowed a playful character to the installation.
