With a history that dates back to 1940, it is considered to be one of the most impressive museums in Tokyo. The redesigned Nezu Museum, which reopened to the public in 2009 after a long period of restoration, recovers the tradition of Japanese buildings, but reinterpreted in the light of the 21st century. The current design is by the architect Kengo Kuma, admired worldwide for the manner in which he blends tradition and modernity, with nature always present. The Nezu Museum is a prime example of that signature, with a glass hall in the centre, facing lush gardens, and the floor covered with 1600 m² of cork. Kengo Kuma selected Wicanders flooring, from the Corkcomfort range, product reference Personality Nightshade, which conveys distinctiveness while providing acoustic and visual tranquillity, thus contributing to achieve the concept of traditional Japanese harmony.
