Tel Aviv
The Israeli designer Rona Meyuchas-Koblenz is passionate about cork and chose it for the installation, Blocks, a leisure space she designed for the Tel Aviv Natural History Museum in the context of the Fresh Paint Contemporary Art & Design Fair.
During Israel’s biggest art event, 108 blocks of cork, produced from three different composites to ensure a diversity of colours and textures, were used in an outdoor leisure area, overlooking the Museum’s magnificent botanical gardens. Once again in contact with the creative community, the installation highlighted cork’s visual qualities and also its physical properties (impermeability, vibration absorption, sound insulation and durability).
With support from Corticeira Amorim and the British Council in Israel, Blocks - a space to be experienced, enjoyed and felt - is perfectly aligned with the natural surroundings of the Museum and Gardens.
