Among the thousands of employees of Corticeira Amorim, it is easy to find people who have more years at the company than I have been alive. My journey is humble and recent. Nonetheless, I felt that I could write this text only a few weeks after joining the Amorim universe.
Being Amorim is not a question of time or age. It’s a question of attitude.
An attitude that is intangible and, at the same time, can be seen daily in everyone working with us, regardless of their job position or status. An attitude that results from a profound passion for cork, the will and resilience that - in difficult and challenging times such as the present - allow us to keep our sense of mission and responsibility.
It is a timeless and winning attitude, which spans various generations, and underpins our history. An entrepreneurial attitude that inspired the construction of the first factory from a small cork business. The fighting attitude that, after a devastating factory fire, allowed us to emerge even stronger. A visionary attitude that made us cross national borders and surpass imposed limits. The nonconformist attitude that, when many people harboured doubts about our future, led us to make a wholehearted commitment to our raw material, improving it and reinventing it.
The Amorim attitude knows no limits.
It is much more than a word. It is our way of being, inspired by all Amorim values: pride in working with cork, belonging to this company, and having a role in one of the world’s most sustainable business sectors. The sobriety of being a world leader without ever seeking the spotlight. The spirit of initiative that allows us to discover new opportunities and innovate, in moments of calm and turmoil. The ambition to go further, to want more, inspired by the firm belief that the best is yet to come.
