Hans Ulrich Obrist, artistic director of Serpentine Galleries is a major figure in the international art scene. He highlights the relationship between cork, design, innovation and ecology.
“This is the second time that the Serpentine has collaborated with Amorim on the Serpentine Pavilion, an annual architectural commission that has become an international showcase for architectural experimentation. The Serpentine Pavilion designed by Herzog de Meuron and Ai Weiwei in 2012 and currently with the 2020/21 Serpentine Pavilion, designed by architectural collective Counterspace. Amorim’s provision of cork for the structure will enable Counterspace and the Serpentine to create a visionary structure, showcasing how design and innovation can consider the ecological crisis we face. Ecology is central to the Serpentine Galleries’ programmes, and we are deeply grateful to Amorim for collaborating with us on this important commission.” – Hans Ulrich Obrist, Artistic Director, Serpentine Galleries"
