Our cork based absorbents range designed for use in spill control of oil and hydrocarbons is marketed under the brand name Corksorb by CORTICEIRA AMORIM. This product was selected for the Portuguese Award for Environmental Innovation, an initiative of the Indústria e Ambiente (Industry and Environment) magazine which is supported by APEA - the Portuguese Association of Environmental Engineers.
The winner of the competition will be announced on next 25th May. This competition serves as a platform of choice for the Environmental Innovation for Europe Award (EEP), an initiative started in 2003, which rewards and promotes European organizations for their contribution towards good environmental performance through their innovations.
The three ideas selected - CORTICEIRA AMORIM's CorkSorb absorbents for use in spills, Cabopol's biodegradable and compostable plastic compounds and ISA's iMeterKit - in addition to being eligible to win the EEP award, will be also disseminated via the Industry and Environment newsletter, will be exhibited at the National Congress of Environmental Engineering and they may still be given the possibility of being present at the Pollutec's trade show (the most important event of the European environmental sector).
