The district of Belém is a historic point of entry and exit for the city of Lisbon. Inspired by the Torre de Belém, a fortification built in 1519, “Port_All” by the designer Yves Béhar proposes a symbolic moment of transition that encapsulates the welcoming spirit of the Portuguese capital. By realising an architectural form with a modular coating inspired by the cork molecules’ shape, this installation is placed on a path, allowing for a break and for a moment of reflection. Cork allows for an insulation from surrounding sounds, creating a quiet, interior space in which materials and form combine to realise an inviting entrance to the city.
