Conversadeira is a doubled chair that allows for a conversation or for a shared moment of silence. The Portuguese architect Souto de Moura uses cork to create a calming and refuge environment, which allows for two people to meet whilst creating an almost private space in a location through which hundreds of people walk.
Resting by the river, Conversadeira II is installed where the front of two buildings constructed 100 years apart meet. The cork not only welcomes the two people warmly but also modifies the reverberation of sound, altering the echo of the conversations and filtering the surrounding soundscape.
The orientation of the seatings facing the river and their different heights proposes distinct perspectives of the same view to each person,
