Corticeira Amorim and the Universidade Católica Portuguesa reinforced their partnership and commitment to sustainability and innovation with the grand opening of the Corticeira Amorim Auditorium on the Universidade Católica Portuguesa campus in Porto. This new space, lined with cork, stands out for its acoustic and insulation properties, integrating state-of-the-art technology to enhance the student experience, clearly reflecting the connection between academia and the business world.
The ceremony was attended by Isabel Capeloa Gil, Rector of the Universidade Católica Portuguesa, and António Rios Amorim, Chairman and CEO of Corticeira Amorim. During the discussion on ‘Innovation, Sustainability and Business’, Isabel Capeloa Gil highlighted Integral Ecology as both an ethical and necessary approach to tackling global challenges, focusing on environmental sustainability, intergenerational justice, the green economy and the fight against poverty.
António Rios Amorim, in turn, emphasised Corticeira Amorim's role as a leader in the research and development of a 100% natural raw material – cork – which is used in the aerospace, automotive, construction, energy, design and wine industries, among others. ‘Corticeira Amorim is extremely proud to support training that has a strong sense of social responsibility, reinforcing our commitment to sustainability and innovation, which are fundamental pillars for our company's growth,’ he stated.
Isabel Braga da Cruz, Pro-Rector of the Universidade Católica Portuguesa, underlined the positive impact that the auditorium will have on the academic experience, fully aligned with the sustainability principles that guide both the university and Corticeira Amorim.
The Corticeira Amorim Auditorium is more than just a physical space; it represents the development of a more sustainable future, characterised by innovation and social responsibility.
